I really have no words to describe how amazing this past weekend was. Friday night, I surprised Joel with dinner from the place we had our first date and he surprised me with roses. After dinner we drank champagne and exchanged gifts. Never in my life did I ever expect to see a Tiffany’s box but there it was with a beautiful key necklace that I’ve had my eye on for awhile. I got Joel a pocket watch with wood grain on the front, he was very giddy about it. The rest of the night we just hung out, drank more wine and champagne.

Saturday I schedule us a couples massage to enjoy before we went to our fancy dinner. I forgot how much I enjoy massages. After we had lunch, we came home with some time to kill before we had to get ready to go to dinner. I napped and Joel played his video game. So romantic I know. For dinner, we wanted to try a new place so Joel narrowed it down to two places, Capital Grille and Ocean Prime. Luckily, Ocean Prime is on the restaurant week list for August so we saw it as a sign that Capital Grille was the place to go. I can safely say that it was probably one of the best meals I’ve had in a really long time. We stared with wagu beef carpaccio with wasabi arugula (fantastic, I had dreams about that wasabi arugula and carpaccio). Next up, Joel got a cup of lobster bisque and I got a salad. For our main courses Joel picked a dry-aged steak and I got Parmesan crusted scallops with crab risotto. Joel’s steak was excellent, but I’m pretty sure I won the prize of best main! For dessert we shared a flour-less espresso cake.

Sunday, we slept in, way later than I expected actually. We pretty much spent the entire day on the couch, watching TV. Which was nice since it rained on and off all day.

I wasn’t happy to go back to work today but at least I get to meet my new future fur nephew (Joel’s sister and her husband got a dog) next weekend!

If you live near a Capital Grille, and you are wanting to celebrate something, do yourself a favor and try their Generous Pour event. It’s $25 dollars a person and you get a sampling of 7 wines. We found three we loved. The event is going on until September 1. I wish we had something else to celebrate so we could go back. And no.. in no way did Capital Grille give me anything for saying how awesome their food was…. and the service, it was amazing!!
